eSIM - Frequently Asked Questions
An eSIM is just a digital version of a normal SIM card. It works the same way as a normal SIM
card. The only difference is that an eSIM is digital. An eSIM is downloaded onto your phone
rather than inserted manually.
No, you do not have to switch to an eSIM.
If you have a phone which supports eSIM you may choose to switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM if
you want to. You can also choose to continue using a physical SIM card.
eSIM allows you to have dual-SIM support even if you do not have a dual-SIM phone. You do not
need to worry about losing your SIM card.
Step 1: Visit a Cable & Wireless customer service center. Customer service will provide you with a QR
code instead of a physical SIM card.
Step 2: If you are switching from a physical SIM to an eSIM, remove the physical SIM from your
device.
Step 3: Ensure you are connected to the internet and scan the QR code with your device camera.
Step 4: Follow the instructions on your device screen to activate your new eSIM
If you came to register for an eSIM at Customer Service, they would have given you a receipt or a
paper with your QR code on it
If you are an existing customer, we may have sent it to you in your email. If you have not a received
an email with the QR code, contact our customer service.
The eSIM does not require Wi-Fi or data to function. You only need to be connected to Wi-Fi for
initial download and installation of your eSIM. After the installation, the eSIM will function the same
way as a regular physical SIM card.
If you have a physical SIM card and you are changing it to an eSIM, you need to connect to
Wi-Fi to download the eSIM.
If you already have one eSIM (or an active physical SIM) and you are adding a new eSIM
with a different service number, you need to have at least 10MB of data to download your
eSIM.
An eSIM is the same price as a normal SIM card. All packages remain the same fee,
regardless of whether you have chosen a physical SIM or an eSIM.
If you are switching from a physical Cable & Wireless SIM to an eSIM, this is free.
You can check your PUK through the Cable & Wireless Seychelles website or by calling
customer service.
You need an eSIM compatible phone for an eSIM to work on your device.
Apple: iPhone XR and above are eSIM compatible.
Samsung: The Samsung S series, Z series or Note series, are eSIM compatible.
Google: The Google Pixel 2 and above are eSIM compatible.
Huawei: Huawei P40, HuaweiP40 Pro, and Huawei Mate 40 Pro are eSIM compatible.
To find out if your device is eSIM compatible, please check whether it has an EID in the
settings.
Currently, only the iPhone 13 and above support dial-active eSIMs.
No, you cannot have 2 eSIMs with the same number. Each eSIM needs to have a unique
service number.
To transfer your eSIM to another phone, you need to delete the eSIM on your first phone.
Once you have deleted the eSIM on the first phone, you can scan the QR code on the
second phone and the eSIM will download and install on the second phone.
If you lose your phone with your eSIM inside it, you need to call / visit our Customer Service
centers to inform our team. Your eSIM will be ceased and reprovisioned on a new QR code
Your eSIM is safer than a physical SIM card as it cannot be physically removed from your
device. An eSIM also has the added benefit of being able to be updated by the carrier for
improved security.
This does not depend on the SIM card or the eSIM. Our eSIMs allow accessibility to all our
networks.
Yes, you can register for a prepaid eSIM from any one of our Cable and Wireless Customer Service desks. You can also book one online via Travizory (the Electronic Border System) before you depart for Seychelles.
