In 2023, we reached an extraordinary milestone, commemorating 130 years of unwavering commitment to service. This remarkable year was characterised by transformative initiatives, with impactful enhancements to our existing products such as the innovative Data Boosters and Mobile Postpaid packages. We introduced cutting-edge offerings like the 5G Unlimited postpaid packages for mobile customers and three brand new Unlimited Wireless Broadband packages, highlighting our dedication to staying at the forefront of the telecommunications industry in Seychelles.
Beyond our business endeavours, we actively connected with our local community through engaging family fun days and a grand festival that featured a spectacular mega concert and a dazzling display of fireworks. To express our gratitude, we hosted a grand lottery, adding an extra layer of excitement to our celebration. The year concluded with a significant honour – winning the title of ICT Establishment of the Year from the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI).
In addition to these achievements, we are proud that CWS was able to pledge a generous donation of SCR1 million to the Disaster Relief Fund in the wake of the explosion in Providence. This commitment reflects our ongoing dedication to making a positive impact and providing crucial assistance where it is needed the most. At CWS, we believe in not only shaping the future but also supporting communities in times of need.
In 2022, we achieved groundbreaking milestones that shaped our trajectory. Starting off the year by welcoming Mr. D’Offay as our Chief Executive Officer on February 21, 2022, who brought visionary leadership to the forefront.
March saw The Seychelles Cable Systems Company Ltd (SCS) land the Pakistan & East Africa Connecting Europe (PEACE) at Perseverance Island, enhancing our international connectivity.
By September, Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS) achieved another milestone by being officially listed on the MERJ Exchange. This empowers the public to be part of our journey, as shares are now accessible via the MERJ Exchange platform. October marked a historic moment as we proudly introduced the first 5G network in Seychelles, setting new standards for connectivity. Here's to a year of innovation, leadership, and strategic growth.

Cable & Wireless Seychelles is 100% local. In November 2019, CWS is purchased from Liberty Latin America by a group of Seychellois investors, making one of Seychelles’ largest companies local.
CWS celebrates 125 years in operation. CWS also won its second consecutive loyalty award in London for the campaign ‘Help to Hear’.
CWS wins its first loyalty awards in London for its campaign ‘Save the Turtles’. This year, Mobile TV was launched, another first in the country. And finally, mobile network was upgraded to LTE!

In April 2006, Cable & Wireless became the first mobile operator to introduce a state-of-the-art network that offered Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) and Mobile Internet.

The need to transmit documents rapidly over great distances led to the introduction of a telefax service in 1985. This revolutionised the way Seychelles and the rest of the world conducted business.
Between 1983 and 1986, the telephone system becomes digital! The installation of a new telephone switch made it possible to introduce International Direct Dialling to 75 countries.
An automatic customer dialled telex service was initiated and provided an essential service particularly for the Business and Government sectors.
Between 1972 and 1974 larger automatic telephone exchanges were installed on the main islands of Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.
Having successfully established HF radio links with the outside world via Nairobi and Bahrain, the last submarine telegraph cable was abandoned on 22nd May 1971 after 78 years of service.
The old Aden telegraph cable laid in 1922 was abandoned on the 31st October 1968, after 46 years of service.
In the late 1960s, HF radio links were gradually replacing the submarine telegraph cables around the world. In 1967 the first radio links by High Frequency (HF) Radio via Nairobi were established.
On the 1st July 1953, an agreement was reached between the Seychelles Government and Cable and Wireless Ltd. to operate a National Telephone System which was inaugurated in 1954.
CWS was responsible for the first broadcast in Seychelles on 14th June, when Governor W.M. Logan Esq addressed a parade on Gordon Square through the Eastern Telegraph's "Colset" TFS12 transmitter.
Cable & Wireless took over from the Government the running of the Ship-to-Shore wireless system in the Seychelles and was granted a license to operate other radio systems.
The islands were further linked to the Eastern Telegraph Company's international telegraph network in 1922 when another cable was laid from Aden to Colombo, Ceylon, via the Seychelles.
By 1902 the Seychelles telegraph station had become an important Indian Ocean cable relay station and in 1908 the first group of Seychellois cable operators were employed.
On the 29th March, the Eastern and South African Telegraph Company (our ancestory company) was granted a contract to establish a telegraph cable linking Zanzibar with Seychelles, then Mauritius .
