So here is this month’s byte!
Digital Clean
We are all very familiar with ‘the big clean’ each year, whether you do it over spring or just before the holidays, doing a big clean can give you that WOW feeling of newness. And just as we do it to take care of our home, we can apply this to our digital life.
Here are some things you can do to get your digital life back into tip-top shape!
- Check your privacy settings.
Have you installed some new apps recently? Maybe it’s time to review your account settings in your browser or mobile apps.
Check your mobile settings to limit how much personal date you’re sharing with these mobile apps. An example would be, is it necessary for this mobile app to track your location if it’s not offering a location-based service?
It’s wise to periodically check your settings every couple of months, as apps and services can change their privacy statements.
- Clean up that desktop!
A cluttered computer can really put your brain in a jumble when looking for files, and unused applications are just taking up space. Every so often, take the time to remove temporary files, duplicates, or unused and unneeded software. Not only will it make room for you, but also reduce security risks on files you’re not often checking on.
- Clear your browser history.
Make it a habit to clear your browser history, many websites or applications could have access to this data. By increasing your internet privacy, you can prevent history sniffling and helps your browser run faster.
- Maybe it’s time to review those passwords?
If you’ve had the same password since 2005 then it’s probably time for an upgrade. Passwords are something we tend to overlook, however, having a weak password is liability when protecting your personal data.
Try to make your passwords long, complex, and unique to your accounts. You can use a handy password manager to remember them and keep them safe!
- Online services.
Whether its music or streaming services, we all have some sort of subscription-based service. Whether it’s something you got a free trial for, and later forgot, it’s time to review what you’re actually paying for.
If you’re not using this membership regularly, it’s time to pause it and save some pennies!
- Assess your package.
Do you often find yourself using up all your data before the month finishes and end up buying boosters on top of boosters?
If you’ve gotten more users on your connection, or you are heavy streamer or love online gaming, it’s probably time to upgrade your connection.
To upgrade or downgrade packages you can email your request to our customer service team at [email protected]. Within your email please include:
1. Your preferred email address
2. Your account number.
3. Your full name, contact number & address
4. Your NIN or passport number for identification purposes
5. The package you are currently on, as well as the one you would like to change to.
Our customer service agents will respond to your email ASAP.
*Note: the email should come from the account holder.
Well, that was a great chat we had, I hope you’ll put these tips to good use and get digital cleaning!
